How to Take An Effective Mental Health Day 

You are entitled to a day dedicated to you.

We cannot be expected to constantly be on and there for everyone and everything else. If that happens for too long, and we don’t give ourselves a Mental Health Day, we will get burnt out and that doesn’t help anyone now does it?

Sleep in, don’t answer texts or emails, and don’t do any chores around the house. Watch Netflix, your favorite movie or the one you haven’t had time to see, stay in bed or sit by the fire reading a book while sipping coffee. Get outside in nature, play your favorite sport, or do something creative that you have been dying to do.

All of the things that you are “supposed to be doing” will be waiting for you the next day and somehow miraculously everyone will survive today without you doing them. The key to your mental health day is to get lost in something that you enjoy - your mind is forced to focus on one easy task instead of focusing on your stressors and to-do lists. Think of it as a little vacation for your brain!
